There are many ways to market a website or blog and internet marketers use a variety of methods to get a site indexed and ranked high in the various search engines. Everyone want to be listed on the first page of the Search Engine Results Pages – SERPs.
Internet marketing tools have evolved just as much as the search engines. Even though there are quite a few search engines, and there are hundreds, you can get software to track your progress in each of them. The amount of indexes is overwhelming but you still have to try to get in them.
Getting a site to rank well can be a very time consuming and difficult process, but considering what is at stake, the effort can be well worth it. After all, it is generally assumed that if you can get your site listed on the first page of the SERPs, it will pay off for you.
If you think being on the first page of the SERPs will be the solution, think again, your ranking on the page will influence traffic in a big way. Obviously the first page is better than the second page, but traffic increases as your rank increases.

If the advertisement satisfies the query, which it should, it won’t help you as an internet marketer unless you buy in. After you’ve gotten to the first page and ranked in the fifth position, you will now be pushed below the fold as a result of a paid listing.
And what about the sponsored ad listings on the right hand side of the results page. They get clicks as well and this reduces the clicks each organic listing can generate. In any event, your site listing has to be above the page fold. This is where you’ll get the greatest benefit.
Search queries can return millions of listings from hundreds of different search engines. You are competing with everything appearing on the SERPs. We all want to be number one, but if you are going to be successful, you need to be in the top three.
